New OSHA Corporate Settlement Guide Expands Potential Use of Agreements - Article
New criteria will be used to determine whether employers qualify for “corporate-wide settlement agreements” with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration under a directive issued June 23 that expands the types and scope of violations eligible for the program. The new directive, which is the first major overhaul of the program in 20 years, expands the guidelines and lowers the penalty threshold for violations.

Regional Director of Environmental, Health & Safety, Cooper Industries, Highland, IL
Cooper Industries is looking for an EHS Director. The Regional Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Director is a highly visible corporate level position, reporting directly to the Vice-President, Environment, Health, & Safety for Cooper Industries. This position actively participates in the development, implementation, and execution of the strategic Corporate EHS Plan. The Regional EHS Director is assigned responsibility for directing EHS Programs at one or more of Cooper Industries Divisions, to be in compliance with local, state and federal EHS requirements, as well as Cooper Industries’ internal EHS requirements. The goal is for the EHS Program to be at world class level. The Regional EHS Director has strong dotted-line reporting responsibilities to the division president(s) and staff members (typically the Operations VP’s) of the division(s) to which he is assigned. This position is responsible for the EHS performance of assigned division(s). The Regional EHS Director works with the VP of EHS, as well as the other Regional EHS Directors, in the ongoing evaluation of the Corporate EHS Program. Opportunities for improvement in the program are identified, with corrective actions being developed and implemented across the entire company. The Regional EHS Director actively participates in the Corporate EHS Audit Program as a Lead Auditor, leading and/or participating in at least four audits annually. Talent development is a key responsibility. This position is responsible for the development and progression of all EHS personnel working in the assigned division(s). A BS in a technical field, preferably engineering, chemistry, or EHS management along with 10+ years of relevant experience is required.

EHS Manager, Bristol-Myers Squibb, New Brunswick, NJ
Bristol-Myers Squibb is looking for an EHS Manager. This position resides within R&D EHS and is responsible for identifying and managing bio-safety risks across R&D. The position will develop and lead programs to assess and control risks associated with the handling of infectious/biological materials as well as small molecules, across Research & Development. Responsibilities include implementation of the BAR (Biological Assessment of Risk) program and providing leadership to the R&D Bio-Safety Committee. The manager will develop and review all H&S procedural documents relating to the safe handling of biological materials and manage control guidance for lab scale large and small molecule handling across R&D. This position will also support R&D based EHS initiatives including role-based training, exposure assessment, hazard communication, and third party contractor review in a matrix environment. Qualifications include 10+ years of directly related experience in the EHS field with a strong knowledge of bio-safety risks and related regulatory requirements. (i.e. OSHA blood borne pathogens Std.). Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene strategy to control exposure to both large and small molecule handling activities in an R&D environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability interact with a wide range of technical and managerial clients. Ability to work in a peer review/matrix environment is essential. Director of Environmental and External Affairs - Region Americas, Confidential, Cincinnati, OH
A global mining and manufacturing firm with more than 100 global sites and 5,000 employees is looking for an EHS Director. Some basic functions include providing technical and regulatory leadership to ensure that the company's facilities in North and South America meet or exceed regulatory and business-driven environmental performance standards, supporting External Affairs and ensuring that the company is well positioned with respect to its standing with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will lead environmental and regulatory compliance team, promote communication between facilities to maximize outcomes and promote learning and represent the region in global best practice meetings and group Sustainability Meetings. 15 plus years of successful work experience in environmental and regulatory compliance and leadership along with a BS (MS preferred) in natural, physical or environmental sciences is required.
