U.S. to Roll Back Safety Rules Created After Deepwater Horizon Spill
The Trump administration is poised to roll back offshore drilling safety regulations that were put in place after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. A proposal by the Interior Department's Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement calls for reversing the regulations as part of efforts to ease restrictions on fossil fuel companies and generate more domestic energy production. Pentair is a global water, fluid, thermal management, and equipment protection partner with industry leading products, services, and solutions. Pentair reports the performance of its business within four reporting segments that focus on five primary verticals. Pentair is building our EHS team and hiring an EHS Specialist who will lead all aspects of safety, occupational health and environmental for the manufacturing facility. In this role, the EHS Specialist will engage employees in a behavior based safety approach to maximize employee safety to a zero injury culture. The ideal candidate will execute implementation of EH&S policies, procedures, programs, and all federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA regulations and participate in internal and external discussions and meetings, with auditors, agencies, consultants & EHS corp. This will include and it is not limited to; participation in corporate sponsored safety & environmental audits and compliance reviews in support of the company EH&S process, as well as the annual lean assessment process. A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or/ Bachelors’ degree and 2+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing is required. Knowledge of Lean concepts a plus. Demonstrated ability to manage through others, facilitation and leadership experience. Knowledge in waste reduction/minimization or zero-waste-to-landfill strategies is strongly desired.

Vice President, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

ISRI is a United States-based private, non-profit trade association representing more than 1,600 private and public for-profit companies operating at more than 6,000 facilities in the United States and 30 countries worldwide. They are looking for a VP of EHS. Reporting to the President, and serving as an integral member of ISRI’s senior management team, the Vice President (VP) of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) manages all elements of ISRI’s environmental, health and safety programs (including facility operations and transportation) and Staff in an effort to advance EHS as a Core Value for ISRI and the industry it represents. The VP is responsible for providing industry leadership and strategic direction for ISRI’s EHS programs, while working with volunteer leadership and staff to develop the needed EHS tools including safety initiatives, programs and training to assist the membership in developing safer and environmentally compliant workplaces. As the voice of the association on EHS, the VP ensures that ISRI’s message is conveyed to members and others through all appropriate communication vehicles. Further, as the voice of the industry on EHS, the VP works with the appropriate regulatory agencies in an effort to elevate the industry’s efforts. A Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field, preferably science is required along with a minimum of 7 years of Safety and/or EHS experience, as well as experience managing people. An advanced degree and/or professional certifications a plus. Minimum of 10-15 of progressive program development experience.

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is a United States Department of Energy National Laboratory operated by Stanford University under the programmatic direction of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science and located in Menlo Park, California. Research at SLAC explores the structure and function of matter and the properties of energy, space and time, at the smallest and largest scales, all with the goal of solving problems facing society and advancing human knowledge. SLAC’s Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Division supports the Lab’s scientific mission and ensures the Laboratory has and implements an excellent program in safety, health, environmental protection, and security. As a Deputy Division Director/Department Head, you will support the ES&H Division Director with the management and direction of various SLAC ES&H functions and facilitate and oversee the implementation of ES&H programs site-wide. You will represent SLAC's environmental, safety, and health programs to SLAC, Stanford University, the general public, the Department of Energy, other DOE laboratories, and concerned regulatory agencies.In the absence of the ES&H Director, you will serve as the Chief Safety Officer and advise the Laboratory Director and Deputy Laboratory Director on elements of ES&H risk identification, mitigation, and proactive solutions. You will work with SLAC’s senior management team to develop Laboratory strategy, operating plans, and policies to achieve SLAC's scientific mission.In this position, you will also be responsible for providing leadership and direction to a health and safety group comprised of industrial hygienists, safety professionals and subject matter experts who support the laboratory’s mission by developing, implementing and managing a variety of health and safety programs supporting both SLAC’s research and operations divisions. A Bachelor’s degree in arts/science in related allied/scientific field and seven years of related progressively responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Advanced degree and/or certification(s) may be required for some programs. Certifications and Licenses: Certification in CSP, CIH or CHP strongly desired.
