Stephanie Bertels, Assistant Professor, Beedie School of Business; Simon Fraser University
Stephanie Bertels is an Assistant Professor of Technology and Operations Management at Simon Fraser University's Beedie School of Business in Vancouver, Canada. Stephanie studies how organizations make the transition towards sustainability. She undertakes practitioner focused research on sustainable operations, embedding sustainability and sustainable innovation and teaches courses in Sustainable Innovation, Sustainable Operations and Managing for Sustainability in both the undergraduate and MBA programs.
Stephanie has an undergraduate degree in geological environmental engineering, a master's in petroleum engineering and a doctorate in business strategy and sustainability and has worked in industry as an environmental engineering consultant.
Stephanie was the lead author of a systematic review on embedding sustainability for the Network for Business Sustainability and developed an embedding sustainability 'wheel' tool that has been well received by industry.www.nbs.net/topic/culture/organizational-culture/
Stephanie currently leads a major research study that brings together leading firms into an embedding sustainability working group to assess what they are doing to embed sustainability, what progress they are making and how to improve their performance.
