Jim Meier, Vice President of Environmental; Arch Coal Inc.
Jim has been Vice President and Corporate Director of Environmental Affairs for Arch Coal, Inc. since 2010. Arch Coal is one of the largest domestic producers of thermal and metallurgical coal in the US. In this role, Jim sets and advances corporate environmental policy for the company and oversee environmental compliance at all operating facilities and corporate assets. Through effective implementation of a corporate-wide compliance management system, including deployment of an environmental information management system (EMIS), compliance performance has improved to zero violations for 19 consecutive months…industry-leading performance.
Prior to Arch Coal, Jim held a variety of positions across multiple engineering consulting companies, including CH2MHill, Jacob Engineering, Black & Veatch and Ecology & Environment. Across his 35 year career, Jim's work has spanned the technical range from environmental remediation, project management and regulatory compliance, to business development and client services leadership.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Missouri State University, a Master of Science in Geological Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology, and an MBA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
