NAEM's Day of Service
Photos from NAEM's 2018 Day of Service in Louisville, Kentucky
NAEM worked with Louisville Grows to plant around 40 trees in the Portland Neighborhood. Louisville Grows is a non-profit working to increase the tree canopy of Louisville by planting trees on private property. Through their successful efforts to date they have planted over 2,500 trees in environmentally damaged neighborhoods of Louisville. These trees, which are 10 to 18 feet tall when planted, provide a number of benefits to the residents of these neighborhoods by increasing air quality, lowering urban heating, providing shade and lowering cooling bills, soaking up stormwater lessening the impacts of severe rains, and sequestering carbon from the atmosphere.
