Brian Tomlinson, Research Director, Strategic Initiative; CECP (Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose)
As Research Director to CECP's Strategic Investor Initiative, Brian develops leading research to accelerate the development and impact of long-term plans as a key element in corporate-shareholder communications. Through proprietary research, analysis of the presentations at CEO-Investor Forums and structured collaborations with supporting organizations, he helps develop decision-relevant, user-friendly tools for investor and corporate stakeholders.
Brian's work on sustainable business and investment has been published and featured by MIT Sloan Management Review, the Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, Harvard Business School, the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, Top 1000 Funds, the World Economic Forum, the Financial Times, Forbes, and the Responsible Investor, among others.
Brian is an expert in fiduciary duty, sustainable business and investment practice. Brian has a decade of experience as a corporate finance attorney specializing in leverage finance and financial restructuring, and worked in the business turnaround group of an investment bank.
Brian also served as the Managing Director of the Coalition for Inclusive Capitalism. As a research fellow at Harvard, Brian worked with Professor Rebecca Henderson, Professor Roberto Unger, the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation, and Professor Robert D. Putnam. Brian has authored several reports on investor Fiduciary Duty, including on capital markets in the US, UK, Japan, Canada, Brazil and South Africa, as well as a report on the role of sustainability in corporate pension plans.
Brian has an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School and a degree in politics, philosophy and economics from the University of Oxford.
