Who We Are

By, for, and about Environmental and EHS managers, NAEM is the leading professional environmental association dedicated to advancing the principles and profession of EHS management.

NAEM, formerly the National Association for Environmental Management, is a dynamic and supportive organization that is determined to make environmental information regarding management systems more widespread. Its membership consists of "in-house" Environmental and EHS managers (vice presidents, directors, managers, supervisory engineers, etc) in organizations nationwide who value life-long learning, continuous education, and professional networking.

The Association was created in 1990 by a small group of environmental management professionals who realized there was no entity in existence for environmental managers from a wide range of industries to exchange ideas and gain insight and knowledge from each other. Today, NAEM is an international organization with more than 1,400 members.

NAEM's programs and initiatives focus on the management issues inherent to the environmental and/or EHS function of a regulated entity (business and service operations, governmental and municipal, and non-profit entities). Our members are kept up-to-date with the latest EHS management trends, information, and techniques to advance their personal and professional objectives.

While general membership is exclusive to "in-house" managers, the NAEM Affiliates Council offers EHS service providers the same benefits of membership. The Council is composed of companies that provide services and products to corporate, institutional, and governmental organizations.
